Bishop's Blog

This here blog serves as my link to the outside world. If you should venture onto this site, be it on purpose or by accident, you will find a few scattered enties that show some of the general shennigans and hijinks that make up my existence. Mostly, it is just a documentaion of my adventures here in CO.

Apart is the New Together, Ya'll

Now, I loved it when pink became the new black. It added much needed character to the bike industry. After all, purple was so 1992. Then breakfast became the new dinner, and that has been great. No more dates with someone I don't know while trying desperately to stay awake. Now, all of a sudden, alone is together. Brilliant! According to the New York Times, couples are Living Apart Together or Living Alone Together (LAT).

Check the article out here. Sorry, but you have to sign up to read it.

The idea is that a growing percentage of couples are choosing to live apart while in a committed relationship with each other. Married or not, this looks to be the next evolution of relationships.

Personally, I think that it has become hard enough to live with ourselves as individuals and it is only getting harder to live with other people. This trend is only a symptom of the greater illness. We would love to call this a social illness of sorts, but I believe it originates inside me as a person, not "out there" in society.

On the up side, it looks as though I am well on my way to a healthy committed, LAT relationship, all I need is for someone else to live at home by herself and I'll have it. Genius, this solves all my inadequacy problems related to dating. Interested in having nothing to do with me? Let me know!

Road Find, It's What's for Dinner

Seriously, this was on the road today. It is worth $43.30, I already checked. This might be the most useful road find to date. Although, there was an alomost full roll of electrical tape one time, but I think food is better. Too bad Whole Foods doesn't have wine in stock here.

Silver Lining

I found this beauty last nite on my burrito run. Technically, I spent it as soon as I found it, but I kept the piece all the same. I'll gladly trade in sockets for the cold hard stuff. Really a fun thing to find. Riding up, I could tell it wasn't a quarter right off, so I wasn't even sure that it was money.

Tarik wants to know why we find so many sockets. Well, I thought about that a while back and came to this conclusion. When you are working on a car, sockets get changed out quite a bit and I like to set them on neat little flat surfaces around the area that I'm working. Sometimes they fall down into the engine compartment, sometimes they hide in plane site, but the fact o' the matter is, it is easy to finish up some work and leave a few more things in there than you started with. I'd imagine they find their way out onto the road eventually.

It makes for good finds for us cyclists with nothing better to do.

Great riding weather lately. Not so much the half-crazed roadie kind, but more the cruise my way to the store or post office or meeting kinda rides. Although there have been some chewing on the stem, sweating through your eyes kinds rides too, but not as many as normal.
